EV charging in Satara

Satara sits on NH-48 between Pune and Kolhapur, with charging concentrated at Shendre on the highway side rather than in the old city. Find a working station below.

Satara's public charging is thin and highway-shaped, which is exactly what you would expect of a town of this size on a busy national highway. The cluster that matters is at Shendre, where Amrai Resort carries both a Tata Power 25 kW unit and a ChargeZone 60 kW MegaCharger — the closest highway-adjacent fast charging to the town. Beyond that, coverage is a scatter of single points: Tata Power at the Tata Motors dealership in town, a charger at LOBH Petroleum in Bhuinj on the Bengaluru side, and a ChargeZone MegaCharger at Wai on the Pune road. There is no meaningful intra-city network, so treat Satara as a highway stop rather than a city with charging.

Charging stations by city in the region

Satara sits within Delhi NCR. If you drive across the region, these neighbouring city pages carry their own station lists: EV charging stations in Kolhapur, EV charging stations in Belagavi, EV charging stations in Hubballi, EV charging stations in Davangere, EV charging stations in Tumakuru.

Where to find chargers in Satara

Head for the NH-48 eastern bypass, not the old town. Satara's through-traffic runs on the bypass and the municipal limits were only extended east to meet it in 2019, so a charger inside the old city is inconvenient to reach from the highway and there is little there anyway. Shendre is the reliable stop. If you are coming from Pune with charge to spare, Wai and Bhuinj are useful alternatives further out. MSRTC runs electric buses on the Satara–Katraj route with depot charging at Satara and Swargate, but depot points are not open to the public.

Use the search box above to jump straight to any of these areas — MIDC Satara, Karad, Wai, Bhuinj and more are listed, and you can also search any address or pincode in Satara. Each station shows its operator, connector types, maximum power, last reported status and a directions link, so you can confirm a charger suits your vehicle before driving to it.

Charging an electric scooter or bike in Satara

Two-wheelers are the largest EV segment in Satara, and they charge differently from cars. An electric scooter draws far less power, so a standard 5A or 15A domestic socket is usually enough for an overnight charge — which is why most scooter owners rarely use public chargers at all. Where public charging matters is for riders who cannot charge where they park, and for delivery riders who need to top up mid-shift.

For those riders, three options exist in Satara: AC points on the map above (many work for scooters with the right connector), Ather Grid fast-charging points aimed at two-wheelers, and battery swapping from networks such as Battery Smart, Bounce and Sun Mobility, which replace a drained pack in about two minutes rather than charging it. Swapping has grown fastest among gig riders precisely because downtime costs them income. If you ride for a living, see our guide to electric scooters for delivery riders and consider a model with a removable battery.

What charging costs in Satara

Public charging is priced per unit of electricity. Expect roughly ₹15–25 per kWh at DC fast chargers and ₹8–15 at AC points, and note that advertised rates are usually exclusive of 18% GST — so a charger quoting ₹18/kWh actually bills around ₹21.24. Charging at home on a domestic tariff of ₹6–10 per unit is dramatically cheaper, which is why owners with home charging treat public networks as a top-up rather than a primary supply. Compare networks on our EV charging companies comparison, or model your own costs with the EV vs petrol calculator.

Driving out of Satara: highway corridors

Satara is on NH-48 between Khandala and Karad, roughly 110 km south of Pune, and sits between the Anewadi and Tasawade toll plazas. The Khambatki Ghat twin tunnel, at 86 per cent progress in April 2026 with one tube in trial running, is expected to cut transit through the ghat from 15–20 minutes to 5–10 once fully open. Heading south towards Kolhapur, coverage stays thin, so top up at Shendre rather than gambling on finding something at Karad. The Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani turn-off is north of Satara at Surur and Wai, not from the town itself — a common navigation mistake.

For any intercity drive, plan the whole corridor rather than searching city by city. The EV route planner maps your route, lists every charger along it in travel order with the gap between each one, and flags any stretch longer than your vehicle's real-world range — which is the number that actually decides whether a trip is comfortable.

Owning an EV in Satara

Local reporting put more than 50,000 electric vehicles bought in Satara district over three years, with more than 6,000 in the current year, and as almost everywhere outside the metros the overwhelming majority are two-wheelers whose owners charge at home. That is why public AC charging has not developed here: the demand exists but it is being met in people's own compounds. The paying customer for fast charging in Satara is the car passing through on NH-48, which is also why what little exists sits on the highway.

Whether public charging is a convenience or a necessity depends largely on your parking. If you can charge at home overnight, public charging becomes a top-up and road-trip tool. If you park on the street or in a shared lot, weight charger availability near home and work heavily when choosing a vehicle, and consider a two-wheeler with a removable battery if that fits your use.

Checking whether a charger actually works

Across India a meaningful share of listed public chargers are non-functional at any given time, and Satara is no exception — broken connectors, offline payment systems, blocked bays and unpowered units are all common. Every station on this map shows its last reported status, and EV owners can report what they find on arrival, so you see community evidence rather than only a database entry. If you use a charger here, taking a moment to report it working or not working makes the map more reliable for the next driver in Satara.

Thinking of setting up a charging station in Satara?

Charger demand in Satara is growing faster than supply in several pockets, which is why a growing number of enquiries we receive are from site owners rather than drivers. If you have land, a shop, a fuel station or a parking facility in the city, our guide to setting up an EV charging station covers the investment, approvals, subsidies and site selection, and the ROI calculator models the payback for your specific numbers.
