EV charging in Bengaluru
Bengaluru is India's EV-charging capital, with thousands of public stations across the city. Find the nearest fast or standard charger below.
Bengaluru has more public charging points than any other Indian city, and the reason is structural rather than accidental: Karnataka was the first state to publish a dedicated EV policy, BESCOM built out public charging early, and the city's technology workforce adopted electric vehicles ahead of the national curve. The result is unusual depth across operator types — BESCOM's own network, Tata Power, Statiq, ChargeZone, Relux and Zeon, plus a dense layer of workplace and apartment charging that does not appear on public maps at all. Bengaluru is also where India's battery-swap networks for two-wheelers are most mature, driven by the city's enormous delivery-rider population.
Where to find chargers in Bengaluru
Charger density follows the tech corridors. Whitefield and the Outer Ring Road belt through Marathahalli and Bellandur carry the highest concentration, tied to office campuses and the malls serving them. Koramangala, Indiranagar and HSR Layout are well covered by a mix of retail, restaurant and co-working locations — convenient because these are places people already stop for an hour. Electronic City has strong coverage on the southern side, and central areas around MG Road and Jayanagar have steadily filled in. Hebbal and Yeshwanthpur serve the northern side and the airport road.

Charging an electric scooter or bike in Bengaluru
Two-wheelers are the largest EV segment in Bengaluru, and they charge differently from cars. An electric scooter draws far less power, so a standard 5A or 15A domestic socket is usually enough for an overnight charge — which is why most scooter owners rarely use public chargers at all. Where public charging matters is for riders who cannot charge where they park, and for delivery riders who need to top up mid-shift.
For those riders, three options exist in Bengaluru: AC points on the map above (many work for scooters with the right connector), Ather Grid fast-charging points aimed at two-wheelers, and battery swapping from networks such as Battery Smart, Bounce and Sun Mobility, which replace a drained pack in about two minutes rather than charging it. What charging costs in Bengaluru
Public charging is priced per unit of electricity. Expect roughly ₹15–25 per kWh at DC fast chargers and ₹8–15 at AC points, and note that advertised rates are usually exclusive of 18% GST — so a charger quoting ₹18/kWh actually bills around ₹21.24. Charging at home on a domestic tariff of ₹6–10 per unit is dramatically cheaper, which is why owners with home charging treat public networks as a top-up rather than a primary supply. Driving out of Bengaluru: highway corridors
Bengaluru–Chennai along NH-48 is one of India's better-equipped intercity EV routes, and Bengaluru–Mysuru on the expressway is now comfortably drivable in most EVs with fast chargers at the main stops. Bengaluru–Hyderabad has improved substantially. The routes towards Coorg, Chikmagalur and the Western Ghats hill stations remain the ones to plan carefully, since charger density drops quickly once you leave the main highways and gradients consume more energy than flat running.
For any intercity drive, plan the whole corridor rather than searching city by city. Owning an EV in Bengaluru
Karnataka's early EV policy and Bengaluru's traffic profile combine to make the city unusually favourable for electric vehicles. Average speeds are low and journeys are stop-start, which is precisely the condition where electric drivetrains are most efficient and petrol vehicles least — many Bengaluru owners report real-world efficiency better than the city average elsewhere in India. The city's delivery and cab fleets have electrified faster than anywhere else in the country, which in turn drives demand for both fast charging and battery swapping, and explains why utilisation at well-placed Bengaluru chargers is among the highest nationally.
Whether public charging is a convenience or a necessity depends largely on your parking. If you can charge at home overnight, public charging becomes a top-up and road-trip tool. If you park on the street or in a shared lot, weight charger availability near home and work heavily when choosing a vehicle, and consider a two-wheeler with a removable battery if that fits your use.
