EV charging in Pune
Pune has a dense and growing charging network, well connected along the Mumbai–Pune expressway. Find a working charger near you below.
Pune punches above its size in charging infrastructure, partly because it is India's automotive engineering hub and partly because MSEDCL and Maharashtra's EV policy supported early deployment. Tata Power has a strong presence, joined by Statiq, ChargeZone and several regional operators, with a notably high proportion of chargers at IT parks and manufacturing campuses. Pune is also a two-wheeler city more than a car city, so light-duty AC points and battery-swap stations matter here more than the DC count suggests — several domestic electric two-wheeler manufacturers are headquartered in or near the city.
Charging stations by city in the region
Pune sits within Delhi NCR. If you drive across the region, these neighbouring city pages carry their own station lists: EV charging stations in Mumbai.
Where to find chargers in Pune
Hinjewadi is the single densest pocket, driven by the IT parks and the residential belt that serves them, followed by Baner and Wakad along the western corridor. Kharadi and Viman Nagar cover the east, with chargers tied to office complexes, malls and hotels near the airport. Kothrud and Aundh serve the established residential west, Hadapsar and Magarpatta the south-east, and the Camp area holds the central-city points. Because much of Pune's charging sits inside gated campuses and townships, the publicly usable map is thinner than the true installed base.
Use the search box above to jump straight to any of these areas — Hinjewadi, Kothrud, Viman Nagar, Baner and more are listed, and you can also search any address or pincode in Pune. Each station shows its operator, connector types, maximum power, last reported status and a directions link, so you can confirm a charger suits your vehicle before driving to it.
Charging an electric scooter or bike in Pune
Two-wheelers are the largest EV segment in Pune, and they charge differently from cars. An electric scooter draws far less power, so a standard 5A or 15A domestic socket is usually enough for an overnight charge — which is why most scooter owners rarely use public chargers at all. Where public charging matters is for riders who cannot charge where they park, and for delivery riders who need to top up mid-shift.
For those riders, three options exist in Pune: AC points on the map above (many work for scooters with the right connector), Ather Grid fast-charging points aimed at two-wheelers, and battery swapping from networks such as Battery Smart, Bounce and Sun Mobility, which replace a drained pack in about two minutes rather than charging it. Swapping has grown fastest among gig riders precisely because downtime costs them income. If you ride for a living, see our guide to electric scooters for delivery riders and consider a model with a removable battery.
What charging costs in Pune
Public charging is priced per unit of electricity. Expect roughly ₹15–25 per kWh at DC fast chargers and ₹8–15 at AC points, and note that advertised rates are usually exclusive of 18% GST — so a charger quoting ₹18/kWh actually bills around ₹21.24. Charging at home on a domestic tariff of ₹6–10 per unit is dramatically cheaper, which is why owners with home charging treat public networks as a top-up rather than a primary supply. Compare networks on our EV charging companies comparison, or model your own costs with the EV vs petrol calculator.
Driving out of Pune: highway corridors
Pune sits on the best-equipped EV corridor in western India: the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, where fast chargers at the major food plazas make the run straightforward. Pune–Nashik and Pune–Kolhapur along NH-48 have improved considerably, and Pune–Bengaluru is drivable with planning. The Konkan and hill routes towards Mahabaleshwar and Lonavala's interior are where gaps remain, and gradients on those roads consume more energy than flat highway running, so both charge level and gap length deserve extra margin.
For any intercity drive, plan the whole corridor rather than searching city by city. The EV route planner maps your route, lists every charger along it in travel order with the gap between each one, and flags any stretch longer than your vehicle's real-world range — which is the number that actually decides whether a trip is comfortable.
Owning an EV in Pune
Pune's EV ownership skews towards two-wheelers and towards engineers and IT professionals with predictable daily commutes — exactly the profile for which electric vehicles make the clearest financial sense. Maharashtra's incentives apply here as in Mumbai, but Pune's housing stock offers more dedicated parking, so home charging is more widely practical and public charging serves top-ups and intercity travel. The city's manufacturing base also means EV service and repair expertise is more available locally than in many comparable cities.
Whether public charging is a convenience or a necessity depends largely on your parking. If you can charge at home overnight, public charging becomes a top-up and road-trip tool. If you park on the street or in a shared lot, weight charger availability near home and work heavily when choosing a vehicle, and consider a two-wheeler with a removable battery if that fits your use.
Checking whether a charger actually works
Across India a meaningful share of listed public chargers are non-functional at any given time, and Pune is no exception — broken connectors, offline payment systems, blocked bays and unpowered units are all common. Every station on this map shows its last reported status, and EV owners can report what they find on arrival, so you see community evidence rather than only a database entry. If you use a charger here, taking a moment to report it working or not working makes the map more reliable for the next driver in Pune.
Thinking of setting up a charging station in Pune?
Charger demand in Pune is growing faster than supply in several pockets, which is why a growing number of enquiries we receive are from site owners rather than drivers. If you have land, a shop, a fuel station or a parking facility in the city, our guide to setting up an EV charging station covers the investment, approvals, subsidies and site selection, and the ROI calculator models the payback for your specific numbers. Planning to buy an EV instead? Compare models in the electric cars and electric scooters catalogues.
