Yamaha Aerox E Launched in India at ₹2.82 Lakh — Its First Electric Scooter Duo Is Complete

Yamaha has finally gone electric in India in earnest. The company has launched the Aerox E at ₹2.82 lakh (ex-showroom) — the battery-powered version of its popular Aerox 155 maxi-scooter and now the most expensive Yamaha you can buy in the country. It follows the more affordable EC-06, launched earlier at ₹1.67 lakh, completing the two-model electric line-up Yamaha unveiled for the Indian market. Sales begin in five cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Chennai.

Powertrain: dual removable batteries, 117 km range

The Aerox E carries two removable 1.5 kWh battery packs — 3 kWh in total — housed under the seat, each with its own charge display. A single electric motor sends roughly 13 bhp and 48 Nm to the rear wheel via belt drive, good for a claimed top speed of about 95.5 km/h. Claimed range is 117 km on a charge. Riders get three modes — Eco, Standard and Power — plus a Boost toggle that unlocks full performance in short bursts. Yamaha backs the packs with a 3-year/30,000 km battery warranty, and the charging port sits in the central spine, with a cavity to stow the off-board charger and cable.

What you get over the petrol Aerox

Visually the Aerox E is nearly identical to the Aerox 155 — same panels, twin LED headlights, single-piece seat and the sporty non-step-through spine. Over the petrol model it adds LED turn indicators, a rear disc brake and a fully digital 5-inch TFT cluster with Yamaha's Y-Connect app support for navigation, notifications, weather and music control, on top of ABS and traction control. The catch is the price: at ₹2.82 lakh, the electric version costs nearly double the petrol Aerox 155 (₹1.45 lakh), and its 13 kg of extra weight and 117 km range make it a premium lifestyle pick rather than a value commuter.

Where it fits in the market

At this price the Aerox E lands squarely against the TVS X and the sportier end of the premium e-scooter set, well above mainstream options from Ather, Ola, TVS and Bajaj — a segment that is growing fast, as India's record 1-million-unit start to 2026 shows. Japanese brands are clearly warming up to India's EV market: Yamaha's twin launch follows a wave of new entries like Hero's Vida VX2.
