2026 Tata Tiago EV Launched From ₹6.99 Lakh

Tata Motors has launched the heavily updated 2026 Tata Tiago EV, and it is far more than a facelift. The carmaker is positioning it as a full generation update, with prices starting at ₹6.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the outright-purchase version — about ₹1 lakh cheaper than before — or from ₹4.69 lakh under Tata's battery-as-a-service (BaaS) plan, which charges roughly ₹2.6 per kilometre on top.

Two battery packs, up to 285 km

The Tiago EV continues with two battery options. The 19.2 kWh medium-range pack makes 60 bhp and 110 Nm and claims around 226 km, while the 24 kWh long-range pack steps up to 74 bhp and 114 Nm with a certified 285 km. The bigger change is charging: Tata says the 2026 car adds 100 km of range in about 18 minutes — roughly 40% faster than the outgoing model — thanks to a reworked charging architecture. As always, real-world numbers will sit below the certified figures, which is worth keeping in mind if you read our range explainer.

A genuinely new cabin and more safety kit

Inside, the Tiago EV gets a redesigned dashboard with a free-standing 10.25-inch (26.03 cm) touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a new digital instrument cluster and Tata's iRA connected-car tech. The bigger story for buyers is safety: six airbags are now standard across all variants, replacing the earlier dual-airbag setup, and the car adds a segment-first 360-degree camera, a blind-view monitor, electronic stability control and hill-hold assist. Tata is also offering a lifetime, unlimited-kilometre battery warranty on the 24 kWh variants for the first owner.

Why this matters

The Tiago EV is one of India's most affordable electric cars, so a lower starting price paired with more standard safety equipment is meaningful for first-time EV buyers. Pricing the better-equipped car below its predecessor also signals how competitive the entry segment has become as volumes rise.

The bottom line

For budget-conscious buyers, the 2026 Tiago EV is now a stronger value proposition — provided the certified range fits your daily distance and you understand the BaaS trade-off (a lower sticker price in exchange for an ongoing per-km battery fee).
