MG Select Unveils Cyberster and M9 Couture Editions — Just 50 Units Each

MG Select — JSW MG Motor India's luxury retail channel — has unveiled special Couture Editions of two of its flagship electric vehicles: the Cyberster electric roadster and the M9 electric MPV. Created in collaboration with celebrated Indian couturier Gaurav Gupta, each model will be strictly limited to 50 units. Pre-reservations are open now, and prices will be announced on August 3, 2026.

Fashion meets the car

The two cars were revealed at the showcase of Gupta's latest Light Song collection at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, with the Cyberster even forming part of the runway presentation. Rather than the usual cosmetic special edition, MG describes these as artistic interpretations of each vehicle. Both draw on Gupta's signature Serpent Infinity motif, translated into bespoke detailing, layered textures and hand-finished elements that echo his couture work. It extends a partnership that began earlier in 2026, when the pair showed an early design study of the Cyberster in New Delhi.

No mechanical changes

Importantly, the Couture Editions bring no mechanical or powertrain changes over the standard cars — this is an exclusivity and design exercise, not a performance one. The standard MG Cyberster is a dual-motor electric convertible, while the M9 is a three-row luxury electric limousine; both sit at the top of MG's India range and are sold only through the MG Select network. For the rest of the brand's electric line-up, see our MG electric cars guide.

Why it matters

With only 50 examples of each, the Couture Editions are among the rarest MGs ever offered in India and signal how JSW MG wants to build its MG Select luxury channel — through scarcity, design collaborations and collector appeal rather than volume. It also lands in a busy month for the brand, which recently raised prices on the best-selling Windsor EV. Prices for both editions are due on August 3; until then, the standard cars remain the reference point. Buyers weighing a mainstream EV instead can start with our best electric cars in India 2026 list.
