JSW MG Motor India has raised prices of the Windsor EV by ₹40,000 to ₹60,000 across the range, with the revised prices effective immediately. It is a significant move because the Windsor is India's best-selling electric car: it has crossed 75,000 cumulative sales in under two years, with more than 19,000 units retailed in the first half of 2026 alone. MG has attributed the increase to rising input costs.
Variant-wise: what the Windsor now costs
The base Excite takes the biggest hit, climbing ₹60,000 from ₹14.10 lakh to ₹14.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The Exclusive rises by ₹46,900 to ₹16 lakh, the Exclusive Pro by ₹52,000 (a hike of roughly 3 percent), and the top-end Essence Pro by ₹40,000, taking the range to about ₹19 lakh at the top. In percentage terms the increases cluster around 3 percent — noticeable, but not enough to change the Windsor's position as one of the more affordable electric crossovers per rupee of range. The third EV price hike this July
MG is not moving alone. Tata Motors raised car and EV prices by up to 1.5 percent from July 1, and Mahindra followed with hikes of up to 2.7 percent from July 10 — the electric XEV 9S saw the largest single increase. Rising battery raw-material costs and a weaker rupee have squeezed every manufacturer at once, and carmakers are passing part of that on. For buyers, the pattern matters more than any single hike: EV prices in India are firming up after eighteen months of aggressive discounting.
