e-Scooter Sales Hit 1.93 Lakh in June 2026 — Second-Highest Month Ever, Up 75%

India's electric two-wheeler market delivered its second-biggest month on record in June 2026, with 1,93,495 registrations logged on the government's Vahan portal — a 75% jump year-on-year and a 12% rise over May. The total fell just 5,891 units short of the all-time record set in March 2026, and it capped a first half in which cumulative January–June sales reached 9,70,611 units, up 53% on the same period last year.

TVS leads, Bajaj close behind

TVS Motor stayed on top with 46,999 registrations and a 24.3% share, extending the lead it has held for most of 2026 on the strength of the iQube family — recently refreshed with a bigger-battery iQube S. Bajaj Auto followed with 43,234 units (22.3%), keeping the Chetak within striking distance of the top spot. Ather Energy held third with 31,188 units (16.1%) — only the second time the company has cleared 30,000 in a month, weeks after crossing 7 lakh cumulative sales.

Hero surges, Ola keeps sliding

The month's standout mover was Hero MotoCorp, whose Vida registrations of 21,792 units were almost three times its June 2025 volume, lifting its share to 11.3% — momentum it will hope to build on with the newly launched Vida VX2, its cheapest e-scooter yet. Ola Electric, the market leader not long ago, slipped further: 16,144 registrations left it fifth with an 8.3% share, down from 18.7% a year earlier. Greaves Electric (Ampere) more than doubled year-on-year to 10,933 units, posting one of the sharpest month-on-month gains alongside Honda.

What it means for buyers

Three forces are stacking up behind the surge: petrol above ₹100 a litre in many cities, the July 31 deadline (and fast-depleting cap) on the PM E-Drive two-wheeler subsidy, and a wave of new launches at lower price points. For shoppers, the competition is delivering real choice — five brands now sell more than 10,000 e-scooters a month.
